Product Spotlight: Force Command™ Electro-Hydraulic Linear Actuators

Parker Hannifin’s new FORCE Command™ electro-hydraulic linear actuator system delivers high power, precise control, and a plug‑and‑play architecture for the most demanding mobile and industrial applications. GS Global Resources serves as a leading integrator of Parker products and linear actuators for heavy machinery OEMs and we are ready to work this new solution into a prototype for your machine.
What Is FORCE Command?
FORCE Command is an electro-hydraulic linear actuator (EHA) platform designed to integrate directly into modern machinery system architectures, emphasizing high force output and advanced control. In certain situations, it can replace traditional hydraulic power units and cylinder packages with a compact, all-in-one solution.
Key Technical Advantages
- Integrated motor controller with built‑in communication protocols enables closed-loop position control and precise motion in challenging duty cycles.
- A non-contact absolute linear position sensor bolts alongside the housing, eliminating the need for gun drilling while offering IP67 protection and MIL‑STD‑810G shock and vibration performance.
- Brushless motor technology delivers higher efficiency, smoother operation, and longer life, with options such as 1 kW 24 VDC and 48 VDC units tested for IP67, 500‑hour salt spray, and military-grade vibration and shock.
Power, Force, and Speed
- New stroke lengths from 6 to 18 inches and bore sizes of 1.5 and 2 inches support a wide range of machine layouts.
- FORCE Command achieves up to 9,400 lbf in extension and 7,100 lbf in retraction, targeting heavy-duty linear motion on compact platforms.
- Enhanced hydraulic circuitry, including load‑holding, backpressure, counterbalance, and float circuits, is engineered for stable, controllable motion under dynamic loads.
Simplified System and Cost Savings
- FORCE Command consolidates components that traditionally required a hydraulic pump, valves, filters, reservoir, hoses, fittings, position sensor, controller, and motor into a single EHA assembly.
- Not only is there a real cost savings, but a traditional hydraulic power unit and cylinder package, but it also reduces assembly time and necessary hosing.
Taking steps toward electronic power and machine control, such as utilizing linear actuators, is necessary for OEMs to prepare machine’s for what’s quickly coming in heavy equipment electrification.
