Making of a Cab: Fully Functional Testing

“GS has been making control systems for machines for a long time and our knowledge of the systems and the components that are inside the cab allow us to more thoroughly test it, as opposed to companies who just make cabs.”

The process of designing a new cab, or redesigning an existing cab for a piece of heavy machinery is a very complex process. From the very beginning, each decision is dictated by a series of requirements, including safety certifications and space constraints, and OEM desires, such as controls and special features. The best way to tackle this daunting process is by utilizing a partner with experience in every aspect of cab design. In this video series, we break down every step of the cab design process with different, specialized members of our talented engineering and sales team.

In a previous episode, one of our account managers discussed application and environmental considerations that need to be addressed in cab design at every stage of the design process. In this video, one of our experienced electrical engineers discusses the modular test stands we created to test electrical components and control systems, and how we were able to evolve those stands to be used on fully populated cabs. We utilize custom harnessing, special programming, and comprehensive procedures to save OEMs time and ensure all of the components are working properly within the entire system.
