The Ability to Offer Customizable Armrests & Consoles
Offer customers different console and armrest options that fit their cost, function, and size needs.
OEMs have countless factors to consider when determining the optimal control design for their machines. Each detail has multiple ramifications on the overall cost, functional capability, and size of the final solution. Take a look at the console pictured above. The left photo features an all electric option which utilizes fingertip controls and two rows of switches, in addition to a touchscreen display. While the electric approach is a lighter solution, it is also more costly. In order to provide a more cost-effective option, we also created a pneumatic version of the same console. This is a heavier option, and the hosing takes up more space than electrical wiring. However, it offers the OEM more flexibility and does not lose all of the functionality, as any capabilities controlled through the missing switches can be programmed into the display.
With all of the decisions and priorities that OEM have to balance for their machines, it can be incredibly beneficial to have multiple versions that align with the overall branding and look of your machine line, while offering different price points and levels of functionality.
