Sending Error Codes to J1939 Modules
The ability of the different components within a piece of heavy machinery to communicate is essential to ensure the operator or technician is aware of any machine issues or other real time information. Within IQAN® by Parker Hannifin, you can utilize different methods and tools to connect machine components, including 3rd party controls, like a separate display. This can be done relatively simply by setting up DM1 messaging between J1939 modules.
Each master module has a separate container that houses all of its fault codes and corresponding messaging information. You will need to list out each error message, determine which type of diagnostic trouble code (or DTC) it falls under, and assign it either a custom SPN or standard FMI number. Organization is very important for this process, so make sure you utilize some sort of logic or system that will help organize all of the program errors you’ve created.
